An amateur video

Ok, I admit I'm not a videographer, but I turned on the camera and was able to catch Troy and Amy's first dance. She had a bit of a dress malfunction but she held up the bustle and away they went!

Here's her dancing with dad:

Website

I've updated the pictures page on the website. www.macondj.com/pictures

I've also put up the url for www.mymaconwedding.com This is something I'm using to showcase the different setups I do in different venues. I'll keep adding to it and I need to add some "action" shots.

Let me know what you think.

I'm also kicking around the idea of a flash site. I've had many brides tell me how easy my site is to navigate, but I love the "cool" factor of a properly done flash site. So, let me know what you think:

-flash
-keep the current site
- give the person the choice

thanks!

Brandon and Rhonda's wedding reception

This week I was at the Hay House for another wedding reception.

I really enjoyed working with Neal Carpenter from iNWARD Studios again this week.

Brandon and Rhonda paid for my LCD for a slide show. They got married in Jamaica last weekend. Rhonda is my dental hygienist.

I decided to only use 1 speaker, as that's all the room needs.
The rooms are kind of L shaped so I put a wireless speaker in the front room. Yes I velcroed the cables after the picture.
I used some lights on the ceiling to give a kind of "sky" effect. It looked pretty cool.
Here's some random pics. These and more can be seen at www.mymaconwedding.com/jackson

Me and Rhonda:

Congratulations to Rhonda and Brandon. Thanks for letting me be a part of your day!

Mark and Heather Ammons

I had the privilege of performing at Mark and Heather Ammons' wedding reception this past weekend at Lakeshore Manor . They were an amazing couple with a great story. I also worked with Steve Schroeder photography. Here are some of the pics I took.

She's going to kill me for this picture, but it shows how tiring it can get on your wedding day.

More pictures can be seen at www.mymaconwedding.com/ammons
I'll be keeping this updated over the next few weeks, as I'm working alot!

Don't forget that I also perform at Holiday parties. Call me for special pricing.

Running

You know, if you had asked me 3 months ago, if I thought I'd be running 9 to 12 miles a week, I'd have said you're crazy! But here I am, running every other day. It's really refreshing, sometimes tiring, but always good. I've found if I go running after I take Hayden to school, I have more energy throughout the day, then running at 10:30 at night.

Try it yourself. If nothing else, just go out and walk for about 30 minutes each night. You'll see a difference in how you feel, look and act.

Have a good week!

Mountain biking

So I went mountain biking today with several members of www.macontracks.org.

I had a blast. Here's what happened:

We had a great time this morning. I know I'm gonna be sore. I took one jump and Deb had stopped in front of me and I nailed both brakes and flew over the handlebars. Later, I thought it would be cool to go through the creek. Amy G was coming around the corner about then and almost wrecked laughing at me as I, once again, ate it. Apparently, the trail that used to go through the creek is not really a trail, but had a 2 1/2 foot drop off. I got a well deserved swim! I wish we had a picture.

Anyway, here's me, Deb and Amy G at the end of the ride. I can't wait until next time.

And showing off our boo boos (and mud!).

Charlie Daniels' thoughts on Obama

Guns and Church

Since I identify with the people who fall into Barrack Obama's elitist description about people of faith who keep firearms I'm not very happy with Barrack Obama's recent remarks.

He said something to the effect that us rednecks cling to our guns and our religion when we get frustrated and I would like to take umbrage to these remarks. My faith goes much deeper than his superficial explanation and I love my guns even when I'm not frustrated.

And I am not by myself. I was going to church and shooting guns before Mr. Obama was even born and come from a long line of good people who have been doing it for generations.

To me this Obama blunder only helps reveal the depth of condescension the far left wing of the Democrat party has for the folks out here in flyover country.

Mr. Obama's remarks are insulting to a lot of folks. It's kind of like Abraham Lincoln said, "God must love the common people because He made so many of them".

His remarks make me think that Obama doesn't know the people of this country very well. I'm sure he knows the jet set and the Hollywood bunch, the limousine liberals and the save the whales, kill the babies crowd, but does he think that the ordinary people don't count? Does he think that they're so stupid that they don't know who he's talking about when
he says these things? Does he think their opinions aren't important?

Apparently.

How can a man stand in front of America
and tell people what he wants to do for them and have so little respect for a whole segment of the population? In fact, a very large segment. Does that mean that he would only represent the high-minded liberal ideals of the far left and ignore the rest of us?

What kind of Commander and Chief would he make if he doesn't respect the very people who make up the lion's share of the armed forces?

You may say I'm over reacting, but I'm getting sick and tired of him making these elitist statements and saying that he had been taken out of context or some other flimsy excuse.

After his wife's remark about not being proud of this country and his pastor's statements calling America the U.S.K.K.K.A. and his ownstatement about not wanting his daughter punished with a baby, it makes me wonder what kind of a man Obama really is and what kind of a president he'd make.

Would he be an antigun advocate pushing the effort to take the firearms out of innocent citizen's hands? Would he not respect the religious beliefs of America, not taking them into account in his agenda?

I really don't know much about the man and neither does America. He basically came from out of nowhere and as the facts come out little by by little, they don't make a particularly confident picture.

I have a great fear that if our military gets broken by another
president, this time we're not going to have time to fix it again and what that spells for America, I don't even want to contemplate.

Oh well, I guess I'll grab my gun and go to church.

Pray for our troops

What do you think?

God Bless America

Update

Well, I've been horrid at keeping this updated.

I'm down to 222. I'm very happy with where I am weight wise. I may try to reach 215 and then I'm done. I don't want to be as skinny as 191. Sorry. LOL

Hayden started back to school last week and LOVES it! He is doing so well and is certainly being a big boy.

I don't have much to say today. Just be safe and have a great one!

It's been a while

Sorry for the time between posts. My mom is great at reminding me that I haven't posted in a while. Thanks, Mom!

I got home from a wedding last night at around 2:15 AM. It was a ton of fun. I got in bed around 3 AM. That's why I'm posting this at 11:40 on a Sunday morning. I didn't make it to church this week. Oops!

As far as the weight loss, I'm at 225 lbs this morning, which is what I weighed when I got married. I'm shooting for 10 more lbs and then I'm done.

Here's a pic from last night:

I'm going to post later about how angry I am at all the DJs lately, who keep bailing out on brides, sometimes even the week of their wedding.

Take it easy,

Doctor's visit

Well, I went to the doctor today and she was stoked that I lost 13 lbs! She set my goal for 4 lbs again for 1 month. I'm shooting for another 10 by Labor Day. That's my 20 year reunion and I wanna look good. Well, as good as I can! LOL

I went to Old Navy today, just because I hadn't been there in a while, and while I was there, I thought, just for fun, I'd try on some size 36 jeans. They fit!!! I bought 'em and I'm gonna wear them tomorrow! Whooo hooo!!!

Thanks to Amy

I'd like to thank Amy G. ( link to her blog) for her help in shoe shopping. She took time out of her schedule to take me to the shoe store. Amy is my bride for October 11.

I have another doctor appointment tomorrow, so I'll post what she says. I hope it's all good.

We went to the Atlanta Zoo yesterday. It's hard to eat right at theme parks. I had grilled chicken. I did indulge in some of the fries with ketchup. Heaven!!! Yummy!!! Ok, that's enough of that!

Well, I'm off to church this morning.

Keep it real!

My diet and other things

So, today is kinda hard. I've got the munchies and it's taking everything I have to not snack. I went to the store and bought all the low cal stuff. Some is better than others.

I've started varying my walking. Now, I walk for 10 minutes, then run for 1 and walk for 2, repeating the running and walking for 15 minutes, the cool down for 5 or 10. I'm working towards running for exercise. It's been a while since I've done that. I had a good walk last night and feel pretty good today, even though I only got 6 hours sleep.

On another note, Hayden had his last day of swim lessons. He finally jumped off the diving block into the 10 foot. It took some bribery, but I'm not above that.

I'm around 234 today. I'll update again on Monday or Tuesday.

Keep it real!

It's been 2 weeks.....

It's been 2 weeks since the diet started and I'm down to 236, according to the bathroom scale I bought. I feel pretty good, although I do get tired pretty easily. My body is having to get adjusted to no junk food and sugar.

I haven't gotten to walk in about 3 days, due to a high workload. Let me tell you though. I moved a lot of equipment this past weekend and worked my tail off. I think it evened out.

I plan on making some salmon for supper tonight. I've eaten so much chicken and salmon, I don't know whether to crow or swim.

I'll have wedding reports soon.

take it easy!

a DIET!!!

So, apparently, I'm in terrible shape. I went to the doctor and had some bloodwork done. Let's run down some of the list:

High blood pressure
Good and bad cholesterol is bad.
She wants me to weigh 191 lbs.

Now, I weighed 243 at her office last week. That means she wants me to lose 52 lbs! I'm going to look like a tall kid with a big head!! Or maybe a thermometer with the bulb end on top. I bought a scale for home and according to it, I'm at 238. She set me a goal of 4 lbs by the next visit. If I can't lose 4 lbs in a month, I've got a huge problem!!!

So, I'm on a 1800 calorie per day diet and I have to walk 1/2 hour every day. I'm doing pretty good on the diet, but my body is craving the junk food and it's killing me!!!

No fast food, no burgers, no hot dogs, no bratwurst, no sodas, no desserts, no BBQ....you get the picture.

I'm going to make this a running report of my progress. I've always felt better when I exercise, I just haven't found the time to go to the gym. We'll see what happens.

I could really use some support in this, as it ain't easy. If you want to drop me some comments or an email of encouragement every once in a while, I'd appreciate it.

Take care and hopefully next time you see me, you'll see less of me!

It's been awhile!

OK, there's no excuse for me not posting for 2 months. I apologize. I've had some great events in the last 2 months. First was Scott and Jennifer's wedding at Callaway Gardens. What a great couple and a lot of fun!

I was at Margarita's Mexican Grill for Cinco De Mayo for Karaoke. Great crowd of all ages! They even found room for dancing.

Then I was at the opening of the Heart Institute at the Medical Center on May 10.

May 17, I was at Healy Point Country Club for Melissa and Gibran's Wedding. What a sweet couple!

May 23, a 6th grade dance in Eatonton, due to ages, I won't show faces:

The next day, I got to be a part of Gina and Tim's reception. This is a couple that just oozes love for each other. A refreshing night of R&B, Soul and some Gospel, all tossed into the same mix.

And this past Saturday, I was at the Blacksmith Shop for Kevin and Allison's wedding reception. Again, another great couple, I'm glad I met.

That's it for now. I'll try and do a better job of keeping this up to date, but I've got a busy 2 months ahead of me.

Keep your reputation clean. It's the only one you've got!
