Hey y’all so I’m going to need ALL of YOUR help! God has put this incredible opportunity in front of me. My best friend Alex Meservey and I are on going on mission trip this summer to Italy. I am so excited! We are leaving July 23 and coming back on August 6, so we will be spending about 2 weeks in Italy. In Italy we will be going out and ministering to people; telling them of how much God loves them in transit station, markets,... parks and on the street. This is will be a challenge for us because most Italians are unresponsive. Italy is filled with magicians and there are more magicians in Italy than there are priest. This country is in need for revival and seeing God’s love.

Noah and Christin

Noah and Christin had their reception at the Blacksmith Shop in downtown Macon. Jenny Evelyn Photo rocked it taking pictures. Lisa Mae Cakes did a phenomenal job on the cake, making it look like Christin's dress. Great food, as always, by Kudzu Catering and you can't forget the historic overtones of the Blacksmith Shop. Kristen helped me keep things flowing when I was away from the board.

We provided the sound and lights and kept the floor full all night!

Hubbard Elementary

I love it when Hayden gets the opportunity to go DJ with me! I picked him up from school and off we went to Hubbard Elementary for their end of year 5th grade dance. Hayden is to the point where I can tell him where to place the lights and he sets them up. He also ran the lighting computer for me.

What a night to forget my Flip camera! I ended up shooting all video and still pics with my iPhone. I'm pretty impressed with the results!

We had a great time and can't wait to work together again!!!

Alex and Daniel get married!

Healy Point Country Club was the place for Alex and Daniel to tie the knot and have their reception.

We had a great time! Kristen was hired to take care of the ceremony coordination duties and she also ran the Macon FunShots photobooth during the reception.

This wedding planning was fun from start to finish! Alex's parents came to every meeting and there wasn't one meeting that there wasn't laughter.

My son attends Springdale Elementary School here in Macon. For those of you that don't live in Macon, this doesn't apply directly to you. But for those of you who drive on Northside Drive around school hours, this could apply to you.

Last week, the regular crossing guard, who does a great job of directing traffic, was out, so the school had one of the custodians to direct traffic. He was trained to do this and had done it before. He had on an orange vest and had an orange flag. Somehow, he got hit by a truck that was exiting the school parking lot. He's OK, but this caused the school board to bring out campus police to sit at the entrance every morning and afternoon. Crossing guards are not allowed to direct traffic anywhere in the county! Brilliant! (sarcasm)

This is great except that they have set it up that you can't turn left into or out of the parking lot. This was done without informing anyone. Now this wouldn't be so bad if the campus police were actually directing traffic. They aren't. They just have their lights on and some cones out. They either stand in front of their car or sit in the car, as was the case yesterday afternoon. I sat in the left turn lane for 10 minutes, watching the officer just sit in his car. It took the teacher who was calling out the carpool numbers, to yell across the street and tell us we couldn't turn in. Is it so hard to put out cones to block the lane or, egad! to direct traffic.

What makes things worse is, the police will not be out there after this week and the crossing guard will not be directing traffic.

Since parents can't turn left, there are all sorts of u-turns happening all in front of the school. The way I see it, all that has happened is the inevitable accident has been moved further down the road. Traffic is backed up further, since there is only one way in and out.

What can we do? I'm glad you asked. With the safety of our children first and foremost in my thoughts, here is the name and phone number of the Chief of Campus Police. Chief DeCoursey 478.779.2040. website

I propose that we call him and express our concerns. Do it nicely and don't be a jerk. Tell them you are calling, because the "contact us" form on the website is offline. (I just checked it).

Maybe if that doesn't work, how about we call the Bibb County Sheriff's office?

What's next from the School Board? Numerous furlough days? (oh yeah, that's already happened) Let the school board know that we care about our children and their education.

Nick and Kelly get married!

I had the privilege of entertaining at Nick and Kelly's wedding reception on Saturday. What a fun couple!

Kelly had no choice but to have a nice reception as her mom is quite the planner/decorator! Once you've met Joan, you feel like you've known her your whole life.

The reception was in the new banquet room at La Pieda. I love what they've done with the place.

I got a chance to work for the first time, with Ashah Wood! There are not enough nice things I can say about her and Debra. They were a real pleasure to work with! She is definitely added to the list of referred photographers!

Ran my first 5k

So I ran in the Camp Little Shot 5k this morning. Camp Little Shot provides a summer camp for kids with diabetes to go to.

I did fairly well....a 33:10 time. What I wasn't ready for was the hills! When I run, I typically run on flat roads. Guess that's gonna change!

Anyway, I plan on doing more. I'm 40 now and not getting any younger. I want to be around a while longer, so I'm gonna try and take better care of myself.

Brett and Leah get married at Healy Point Country Club

Brett and Leah had their ceremony and reception at Healy Point Country Club last Saturday. It was a little warm, to say the least, for the outside ceremony, but I put a fan up by the altar so Brett and Leah wouldn't overheat. It was a beautiful ceremony, with a string duet providing the music.

Kristen stepped in with 2 weeks to spare to help out with the coordinating of the ceremony. Big props for a great job!!!!

Amy and Mike's reception

Lots of times, we as DJs get a little anxious at receptions that are in the afternoon. We're just not sure if the dancing will take off.

Guess what? That wasn't the case at Amy and Mike's reception. Their family and friends were all about the party! The Armory Ballroom was the place to be for the reception. Beautiful decorations by Carmen and Allison from Nectar and Co. made the place pop. Photography by Jenny and Koutsunis from Jenny Evelyn Photography took some gorgeous pics. I can't wait to see them all!

Mark Foley from Foley Productions shot a highlights reel that I will try and link to here. His work is nothing short of amazing!

We tried something new at this wedding. We took a spotlight and put it in the balcony. Big thanks to Kristen for running it, after a crash course. We used it for the introductions and first dance. Then Jenny and Kristen collaborated to use it for the Marriage Appreciation Dance. With purple being one of the wedding colors, Kristen used her creative skills and popped the spotlight to purple for some awesome backlit pictures.

The day ended early, since it was an early wedding, so after teardown, we took off for some Mexican food with Jenny and Koutsunis. What a great ending to a great day!

Here's some video footage. The guests arrived 30 minutes early so I didn't get a chance to do the talking intro. Enjoy it anyway!

What a cool couple! I had the privilege of providing the entertainment for Mandi and Justin this past Saturday at the Cotton Barn. Justin is a cotton farmer so it was pretty cool to see that the boutineers were cotton stalks.

We had peanuts and Coke for favors and little bit of line dancing to make the night complete. As always, Paul and Delise and their crew were perfect to work with.

Kevin and Ashley's Wedding

Wow! What can say about Kevin and Ashley? A great couple with very unique tastes in music. I can honestly say I’ve never played anything by the group Hoots and Hellmouth! We took care of coordination (thanks, Rebecca!), the ceremony, the reception and Kristen took care of setting up her infamous uplighting with a purple and green pattern to match the wedding colors! (thanks, Kristen!)

A loooooong weekend

Wow! What a weekend! It started off on Friday afternoon, with a setup at Idle Hour Country Club for a wedding on Saturday. I can't wait to see some of the images taken there by Neal of iNWARD Studio.

After that, I went to Stratford School for a middle school dance.

Left there and met up with Steve Lynch from Extreme Entertainment out of Atlanta. He was at the Armory for a home school prom. Helped him tear down and got in bed around 2:30.

My internal alarm went off at 7am and my day started. Got everything packed up, picked up my assistant, Kristen and off we went to Pineola Farms in Fort Valley. Paul and Delise always have things perfect there, so I have to admit, I was a little nervous setting up the lights in the daytime since I couldn't see the monogram. Anyway, we lit the tent with Color Palettes, a night time sky light and a monogram.

Left there and took off to the Blacksmith Shop to setup for Andrew and Becca's wedding reception. We tried a different setup this time and I fell in love with it. We used the EV dual 15's with 2 Proel 18" subs under them. The sound was nothing short of amazing!!!

Andrew and Becca are so cool and have some great friends as well. I didn't take any decent pictures, because I forgot the good camera. Here's the only decent one.

I was able to take some video, so here it is!

After the reception, Kristen and I did a quick strike of the setup and headed south, once again, to Pineola Farms to get the lights out of the tent. I grabbed a couple of pics with the budget camera. This the best one and does not do it justice!

Headed back to Macon, dropped Kristen off and headed to the house for some sleep. Woke up the next morning and headed to Idle Hour to pick up the lights.

A great weekend, but seriously busy! I love it! Thanks to everyone that helped DKH make every bride's wedding everything they wanted!

Geoff and Valerie tie the knot!

What a great couple! April 3rd, The Blacksmith Shop was the place to be as Geoff and Valerie tied the knot and became husband and wife. The weather was perfect in the courtyard as friends and family gathered to celebrate with them.
The party started strong inside as the reception got underway. We had a great time working with Kyle Hale Photography, Carmen from Nectar and Company and Bobbi Jo from Ashley Lauren, Ltd Catering.

Enjoy a few images and video. The monogram was actually created from an image of a dandelion on a wall in their house. Thanks to Neal from iNWARD Studio for his help in creating this one of a kind monogram.

Yep! Spring has sprung! How do I know? Is it the beautiful flowers that are bursting forth all over? Is it the Bradford Pear trees blooming? Is it the warmer weather?

Yes to all of these, but the number one sign of spring is my confounded hay fever!!! I thought I was gonna have an easier year, but that's not the case. Zyrtec and Benedryl. That's what worked last year. We'll see about this year.

I go see the ENT on Friday. I'm hoping they can send me to an allergist to finally figure out, after 35 years, what I'm allergic to.

On a happier note, a great sign of spring is all the wonderful couples that are getting married over the next few months. I can't wait!

This is going to be a very good year! Make yours one too!!

Helping 8 girls celebrate their 13th birthday

Last night was so much fun as we helped Amelia, Huntley, Karlyn, Lucy, Missy< Morgan, Virginia Ann and Sydney celebrate their 13th birthday. We pulled out all the stops at the Idle Hour Country Club. Karaoke, video, architectural uplighting, starry night light and dance lighting. They and 60 of their closest friends danced, sang karaoke, ate pizza and had a great time. Enjoy the images. Urban Cowboy

What a great time we had last Friday night at SoChi Gallery for the Urban Cowboy party.

Everyone got "duded up" in their finest western wear and stampeded downtown for the 1st big theme party of 2010! I saw people there I've never seen at a SoChi party. It was awesome!!! There were ever a couple of Futurity judges there. Futurities are, for lack of a better description, horse shows.

I got to try out my new EV speakers and they did not disappoint! Crystal clear sound and plenty of bass!

Let's not forget about the mechanical bull. I made it a whopping 15 seconds and walked funny for the next 1/2 hour. The winner of the contest rode for 38 seconds! Congrats!!!!!

With the help of Larry Najera, we got a chance to try out live streaming of an event. For this party, I streamed via Skype to Larry, who then was able to grab still from the video and post them up on Facebook for all to see. Look for this in the future from DKH.

Bridal Shows on Sunday

We had a great time at the Macon's Wedding Ring Bridal Show in Perry on Sunday. Big thanks to Ro and Kelsey, Kevin and Brittany (former clients) and Kristen for their help in the booth.

Mary Cason and Murray's Birthday Party

DKH had a chance to perform at Idle Hour Country Club this past Saturday for Mary Cason and Murray's birthday party. I had a great time doing what I do best.....rocking the party and making it look good.

Idle Hour has a great ballroom that was just begging for some uplighting. I grabbed some lights out of the trailer and placed them on pink. Placing them around the room in strategic locations allowed the room to take on an elegant yet fun feel. Adding the starry night to the ceiling and 2 moving head lights for stars on either side of the doorway, right above the gift tables, made it complete.

The kids danced and had a great time for 3 hours.

I work hard at what I do. I know lots of people think that I sit home and watch TV and play games all week and work on the weekends. Nothing could be further from the truth.

There are many facets to running an entertainment company. If you are reading this and you are self-employed, then you understand where I'm coming from. If you're not self-employed, more than likely, you can leave your job at the office. I have to do office work, advertising, client meetings, be my own webmaster, keep my music up to date, make sure my equipment is functioning, etc. In other words, it ain't easy.

Us DJ's have message boards that we hang out on. We share ideas, event pictures, videos, etc. It's a great learning experience. So that being said, it's great when I find that my contributions to the DJ industry, as little as I may feel they are, have impacted someone's life and career and allow me to receive an letter such as the one I want to share with you.

After over 20 years in the DJ business, I feel at the age of 50 it is the right time for me to retire.

It has nothing to do with the economy or the influx of new “wanna be’s” with a laptop and Limewire. Rather it is a change in priorities – giving my wonderful wife of 29 years a return of normal weekends and allowing me more time to volunteer with the Leukemia Society of Maryland as a cancer survivor.

I say all this because I want to truly thank you for being the type of jock I totally respect and enjoy. You seem to be a true family man, enjoy what you do, have a continuing passion for the work and are committed to the satisfaction of your clients.

All those qualities are exactly what kept me in the trenches for all these years. Plus your vlogs only reinforce all that. I always look forward to them! With those vlogs, you have the guts to show the consistently fantastic job you do, then end it with a song sung with sheer joy and abandon. I love that confidence. You are obviously comfortable in your own skin. Can you tell my Momma is a family therapist?

Your postings reflect all the qualities I mentioned. Your attitude never seems to wane. You are to be congratulated for that. I feel you are what this industry and the forums need – a fine example of what we all should strive to be. You are what I refer to as one of the “good guys” – and not many are included in that category.

So thanks for being an upstanding member of the DJ community. I had to tell you before I sign off the boards for good.

Ray and Jody's Wedding

About a year ago, I got a phone call from a DJ in Florida, Ray Meyers. Now I didn't personally know Ray, but knew him from some DJ message boards that we both are members of.

I got the distinct honor of being asked to provide the entertainment for Ray's wedding reception.

I, of course, agreed and last Friday, Kristen and I took off for Sarasota, FL. We arrived late Friday afternoon, just in time for the rehearsal dinner. Immediately, I liked Ray, Jody and their family and friends. Kristen and I were made to feel welcome as soon as we walked through the door.

The wedding day was beautiful and the everything was perfect.

DKH had the opportunity to perform at Zan and David's wedding ceremony and reception last Saturday at the Blacksmith Shop. It was awesome! Approximately half my guests were hearing impaired. I made sure the subs were working hard so they could feel the beat. It was one of my best dance floors I've had this season. Thanks to Kristen for installing all the uplighting. You have picked up this job and are well on your way to becoming a pro!

I met with a bride and groom the other day. During the course of the conversation, they mentioned they were helping a friend with her wedding....they were manning the iPod. Oh boy!

I offered to help as much as I could, if needed. I hate to see anybody's day not be the best that it can be. I shared with them how, on July 4th, we had some friends over and I put on my XM radio. What a disaster!!! I ended up pulling out a rig and DJing my own party!

Here's an email she sent me today. I got her permission to repost it here. I've changed the names.

We are sending the contract out today. We had 98% decided that a DJ and your business in particular was what we wanted and the wedding this weekend just confirmed that choice!

You were very right about the trials of an ipod wedding. The wedding was successful and beautiful, but part of that success was at mine and Jimmy's expense, as we were running around trying to set the music up and determine who, if anyone, was making the announcements and moving everything along. The couple, especially Jackie, are probably two of the most organized people I know of and even with their detailed schedules and itineraries, there were delays and confusion that could have easily been handled by a professional (who didn't have a personal stake in the friendship of the couple).

In addition to the lack of announcements, there was practically no dancing and though we tried to read the crowd, we were very limited by the playlist the couple had put together.

In short- We are true believers now! We are very excited to work with you and are looking forward to having a wedding reception that everyone enjoys!

Ro and Kelsey tied the knot on Saturday. We provided ceremony sound, reception DJ and day of coordination. Great time at a place I've never been. Pineola Farms in Fort Valley, GA. Kathryn turned 13!

Friday night, the Mellow Mushroom patio was the place to be. Kathryn turned 13 and 50 (or so) of her closest friends came out to help her celebrate. Karaoke and dancing was the order of the night. This is the 4th party I've done in this group of friends and they didn't let me down on the dance floor.

Staff of the Mellow Mushroom made comments to me when it was over about how those kids just kept jumping! LOL

What a great time we had at the beautiful Villa Serena in Conyers, GA. Drew and Tara had both their ceremony and reception here. The day started out warm, but cooled down comfortably by the evening. Uplighting, cake lighting and more!

Last Saturday, the beach took over Macon, well at least in Kristen and Nick's backyard. They threw another of their infamous parties and this one was packed! Kristen and her sister Kelly worked hard on this one, making sure every detail was correct. Nick also helped out when he could.

This was a great party! Nick took care of putting a "beach" in the backyard with a sand filled sitting area. We had beach balls and Tiki torches. Uplighting in the trees and more.

Friday, July 3rd was an awesome day! Jimi and Shelley tied the knot and then they and 350 of their friends came to the Blacksmith Shop for an intimate reception. Excellent food from Anderson's Bakery and photography with Delaney and Stephanie from Delaney Holliman Photography

Jimi is our pastor's son, so this was very special to us. Pastor John has never seen me perform, so I have to admit I was a little nervous going into this, but once I started, I fell into a groove and never looked back! Rebecca came by to help out. It's always good when she helps out. She can almost read my mind (Egads!) and seems to always know where I'm going almost before I say anything.

What are you doing to keep in shape and looking good for your brides? All too often, we can become complacent and not look our best because we may look at it as "just another wedding". Well, it's not. This is the most important day of this girl's life and we are a big part of it.

We all want our gear to look good. We worry about wires, facades, etc. Well, what about you? What have you done recently to better you look? Whether its a haircut, shaving, manicure, what have you done?

Personally, I'm going the exercise route. I mean, I can't get any better looking ( ) but I could stand to lose the 10 lbs I gained back from last summer. I could also use some more strength and stamina. I found all these things in P90X.

This is not a commercial for P90X. I've been doing it for just 2 days and already feel better. It's a killer workout, that's for sure.

Why am I doing it? Well, mostly for me and my family. I want to be around when my son is older.

For the business? Heck, yeah! Brides are getting younger, I'm not. So, I've got to do what I can to look hip, fun and professional all at the same time. If they see I'm taking care of myself, then they know I'll take care of them.

Find something that works for you. Walk every other day, even once a week, if that's all you can do. Eat smaller portions. Lay off the garbage you eat and eat better!

Let's do what we can to make DJs lose the stigma of being slobs.

Matthew and Esther's wedding reception was held at the Blacksmith Shop this past Saturday. It was an afternoon wedding, which I get kind of nervous about, because people don't seem to "let loose" like they do in the evening.

They proved me wrong! This was a crowd that was there to have a good time. We went for 5 hours and they probably could have went longer, but like I say, leave them wanting more!

I created a different kind of monogram for them. I had this wild idea to use the Ms. Pacman theme. The only problem was, they didn't get a chance to see it, as her mom asked to show a slideshow of pictures.

I got the chance to work with Shannon and Steve with Photography by Shannon. A great couple and we had a lot of fun.

6 MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT WEDDING DJ’S Part 4a

Ok, so I wanted to add more to this.

Why do I charge more than others? Because I do more than others.

It makes sense. The DJ is in charge of the music, the mood and the energy. They have the microphone to direct your guests in the toasts, the cake cutting, the bouquet and garter, etc. Even the legendary Martha Stewart agrees. In Martha Stewart Living Magazine she states "Your reception entertainment is ultimately responsible for the event’s success so don’t look for the cheapest, look for the best."

Read that again, it’s important.

If you decide to budget only 2% for someone who doesn’t have the experience or knowledge to keep your guests past dinner, then you’ve literally wasted thousands of dollars on the remainder of the reception that no one will enjoy. Now, don’t jump ahead and think that a professional disc jockey should charge 80% or $16,000, but the average rate for a true professional, someone who is mature, experienced in music, reception protocol, detail oriented and a long list of other qualities is closer to 5% or $1,000. This is for a 4 hour wedding reception. Any extras like lights, video presentation, etc., will sometimes cost a little more.

Remember, entertainment will make or break your reception.

Oh, one more thing. A good DJ shouldn't have to rely on alcohol or props (wigs, inflatable instruments, YMCA hats, etc) to have a good party. Prior planning is key to a successful reception. Knowing your clients. Asking questions about the guests that are attending.

A great reception doesn't just happen, great receptions are made.

“DJ’s shouldn’t cost more than $400”

I’m sure you can find someone who’ll be more than happy to take $400 (even $200!) and try to do their best, that is if they even show up! An Ipod in the hands of a teenager will get you music but not much else.

Let’s keep two very important details in mind. First, on average the ceremony and reception will cost $20,000 and second, the entertainment you choose will be responsible for 80% of the success of your day. This is documented by hundreds of brides who have been asked AFTER their wedding and have stated that without a doubt the DJ, more than the photographer, the cake, the flowers, even the food, contributed more to the success of their reception than all the
others.

This is what I do for a living. This is how I pay for all the bills that come from running a business. I charge more than $400. Why? Because I'm worth more. All the knowledge and experience that I possess to make your reception everything you've envisioned, makes me worth it.

I'm not trying to sound conceited and those of you who know me will agree. I don't have an ego, but I believe in what I do.

Think about past wedding receptions you've been to. What did you like? What did you dislike? These experiences will help guide you on your quest for the perfect wedding reception.

“A DJ’s job is fun. If it’s fun they shouldn’t get paid for it”

Sure it’s fun. Thank goodness it’s fun, but it’s also a lot of work. As a soon-to-be-bride you are already getting an idea of the work and attention to detail that is necessary to make your wedding day a success. A professional disc jockey will spend approximately 6 – 8 hours on your reception BEFORE they even start the music! That does not even take into consideration the hours on advertising, maintenance, follow-ups, continued education, research and all the myriad of details a business owner deals with daily to provide quality customer service for their clients.

I don't know. Maybe I'm an over-achiever, but I put all kinds of crazy hours into a wedding before I ever even get there. Setting up music lists, typing up the paper work, creating the schedule, rehearsing what I'm going to say and how I say it. I want to make sure I don't do something as silly as say the wrong name!

Look for someone who works at their job, not just do it by rote.

I love my job! I love my job, because I enjoy it. Does it help that it's fun? Of course, but what you don't see is the added stress of making sure the most important day of your life is everything you've dreamed it would be.

“A DJ is an entry level job, how hard can it really be?”

Pressing play on a cd player or clicking start on the laptop is just the beginning. Using the microphone to motivate the crowd, presiding over the bouquet and garter tradition, handling
the organization of the toasts and the cake cutting, all the way to the last dance, takes finesse and, yes, expert skill to accomplish effectively. These skills for the most part are not taught so much as they’re learned through doing and having a trainer or mentor to provide constructive criticism along the way.

Look for someone who will take care of all the events at your reception. A Master of Ceremonies is just that, someone who has the know how to handle all the ceremonies that are performed that night. If all your DJ does is push buttons, congratulations, you have an iPod with arms!

#1. “DJ’s just play music”

As was pointed out earlier, the job responsibilities of todays disc jockey reach far beyond that of just playing music. That’s why the term “disc jockey” really doesn’t describe the profession anymore. It’s too small in scope. The dj’s who have grown in the industry often refer to their occupation as just that, an occupation. They like to be referred to as a wedding entertainment director or wedding entertainment specialist, not to be confused with a wedding consultant, or an event consultant, neither of which have the same level of control during the actual event itself.

I refuse to do a wedding where all I do is play music. I do so much more than that. Look for a DJ who will be your Master of Ceremonies, someone who will take care of running the reception. Do they have a schedule of events? What about knowledge of wedding traditions? To my knowledge, I'm the only DJ in this area who gets continuing education in my career. From Master of Ceremonies workshops to sound reinforcement classes and more.

Sad to say, too many people who call themselves DJ's, are ruining it for those of us who truly love what we do and care about or client. We want to do the best job we can and excel at our craft. Those who don't, well, let's just say I've had quite a few calls from people who had their "DJ" take their money and run. Insist on a contract and get references.

So, I'm sitting at my desk working and trying to figure out what I want to fix for lunch, when the doorbell rings. I look out the window and there sits a news truck from 13WMAZ.

I went to the door and there stood Jennifer Bellamy She was doing a story on the county line dispute and wanted to interview me. I said "no problem" and went to put on a shirt with the logo on it. LOL

Good interview and then she started asking me about my business. I'm anxious to see how much of that part gets on the air.

I'm going to take a few days and put up parts of a brochure that I give all brides at bridal shows. This was written in conjunction with Michael Stedman, a good friend of mine from Orlando.

Hopefully, this will help you in your search for a quality DJ/MC.

The responsibilities and job description of a wedding ceremony and/or reception disc jockey have changed quite a bit over the years. Not so very long ago DJ’s were simply asked to play music that provided energy and, hopefully, some dancing.

Today, the professional disc jockey is called upon to make all the formal introductions,handle the logistics of the toasts, cake cutting, the first dance and other traditional dances. Also, the pre-planning and entertainment coordination with the bride and groom, determining the overall musical wishes of the guests and so much more, make the selection of a qualified disc jockey – now commonly referred to, by some, as a wedding entertainment director – that much more important. Blake and Amy

I had the privilege of performing at Blake and Amy's wedding last Saturday. What a great group of people!

We were at the Blacksmith Shop. Andrew and Chris from Andrew Brooks Photography provided photo and video coverage. Tammy Anderson from Anderson's Bakery and Catering had a wonderful plated dinner that was served and I had a piece of cake after the party. Yummy!!

Vegas

I'm heading out in the morning for a week in Vegas. Before you get too excited, thinking I'm headed out on some big gambling spree, I'm headed out for the Mobile Beat DJ convention. I'm going to hear from some great speakers and hopefully see some new products. Most importantly, I'll get to network with some of the best in the biz! I am so excited!

I plan on coming back with some great stuff to help make all my weddings this year special.

I'll still be accessible, as I will have phone and laptop handy. Just remember, I'm 3 hours behind, so I'll try not to call to late.

Macon Lights kickoff event

This past weekend was my first lighting event for Macon Lights.

I was hired by Carmen at Nectar and Company to light a wedding she was the Event Designer for. She was working in conjunction with florist Allison Lucas. The lighting only served to enhance and bring attention to the awesome decorations and flowers that they provided. Their creativity is 2nd to none!!!

Delaney Holliman was the Photographer. I can't wait to see the pictures he took!!

I finally took the Hunter's Safety Course and can now hunt gobblers! I made a 100 on my test and I plan on hunting some turkeys this year. Yay me!

Thanks to everyone that came out to the Macon's Wedding Ring Bridal Show. I got to meet some new clients, some old clients and some potential clients. All in all, we had a great time. Thanks to Rebecca, my elite coordinator, and Amy Tarpley, a former bride, for all their help. Big thanks to their husbands for letting them help me out.

Also, much thanks to my wife, who let's me do this DJ thing, even though it ties up most weekends. Let's not forget Hayden. One day, I'll talk him into doing a show with me.
